On my first trip to Hawaii, I found out how incredible it was. I went snorkeling, hiking and any thing else you can think of with my family and it was beautiful.
My brother and sister in-law came with us on this trip, he was a certified scuba diver. He talked to my husband about getting me into Discover Scuba with the local dive center. My husband took me and my son to sign up for this class. We went to a local swimming pool to try it out. We both fell in love with it.
This was back in summer of 2003. When I had to come back to my real life, I checked in with my local dive center (Pacific Watersports) and got set up with into a class to do my Open Water Course so I could enjoy the underwater realm in our area. I received my OW certification in December of 2003. Since then, I have been interested on bettering my skills, so I have been taking the different courses PADI has to offer.
In 2006 I received my Dive Master Certification. I found out that I really liked helping and assisting the Instructors with the new students while they are learning for the first time, what it is like under water.
In 2007 I received my Assistant Instructors Certification. This way I will be able to be more active when it is time to show people what it is like in the under water world.
I really enjoy working with the different people and love to see their faces when they are able to see and breathe for the first time under water. There is lots of interesting things under the surface of our waters.
I have not traveled to too many places; of course to Hawaii, and I also have been to Bonaire in the Caribbean. I hope to see more on what is offered but time will tell. Then warm water is nice with all the beautiful colored fish and corrals, I have see several barracuda, frog fish, eels, and lots of fish that can not be listed, but I do most of my diving here in the Pacific Northwest in the cooler waters. There is a lot to see here also.
There are totally different things to see then what you see in the warmer waters. The things I like to see here in the PNW are the Giant Octopuses, Squid, our PNW Wolf Eels, all the different kinds of Crabs, all the Sea Plumes and also all the different colors our sponges have, all the different shapes of star fish. As per square foot, I think we have the most to see here in the PNW.
As what I do in my spare time when I am not diving or snorkeling with my family, I enjoy working at my job in electronics. I also enjoy riding with my husband on both of our VTX1300 Honda motorcycles, camping, hunting, fishing, kayaking, and just being in the out doors of some form or another. If you are interested in seeing the underwater world, please come and see us at Pacific Watersports and we can show you another part of this would many people have not yet seen before.
